Equine dentals â€‹

Equine dentistry has advanced significantly in recent years, both in our understanding of dental disease and pathology, and in the equipment available to treat it. Using modern motorised dental equipment and supported by ongoing professional development, we provide thorough routine dental examinations focused on early identification of problems and prevention of future disease.

We recommend routine dental examinations every 6–12 months to maintain your horse’s comfort and oral health.

As qualified veterinarians, we are able to sedate horses when required, allowing for a safe, detailed examination and precise dental treatment. This enables effective reduction of sharp enamel points and overgrowths, which can otherwise cause discomfort and oral ulceration.

Dentistry is carried out using lightweight, modern motorised equipment, with your horse supported on a padded head stand for comfort. Detailed dental charts are completed and added to your horse’s medical records.

Routine dental procedures can be performed at your yard, and are included in free Tuesday visits for horses covered by the Equine Wellness Plan.

Where advanced dental treatment or diagnostic imaging (such as radiography) is required, we work closely with trusted local referral clinics. This ensures appropriate specialist care while allowing us to maintain continuity of care following any procedures.
